DIVINE DEMANDS DISTURBS THE FLESH

DIVINE DEMANDS DISTURBS THE FLESH

I was in a conversation with an elderly person and he mentioned to me, “This is not just comfortable”. He is was referring to a godly demand. I said to him, “Sir, the demand of God is never comfortable. It will disturb and unsettle the flesh”. He took a deep sigh.

Beloved, the demands of God upon a man that He will use are never cheap. A great example is Abraham, the father of faith.

Think of what it takes to obey this command at the age of seventy-five: “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
Genesis 12:1 NLT

When everyone is asking, “Abraham, where are you relocating to?” Can you imagine the answer- “I don’t know but God will show me”.

How about obeying the command of circumcision at the age of ninety-nine?

You must cut off the flesh of your foreskin as a sign of the covenant between me and you.
Genesis 17:11 NLT

And after waiting so many years for a child and obeying instructions to send away the one you got by error, God then asks you to sacrifice Isaac.

“Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”
Genesis 22:2 NLT

If you want to walk with God, you have to tell the flesh to keep shut as you yield to tough demands of the spirit. The demands of God will never be comfortable for the flesh.

There are days that you can go on without eating yet nothing happens but the day you are instructed to fast, civil war begins. The demands of God are not easy on the flesh.

When it comes to spending on yourself, you may not think twice but when God says to you to sacrifice a month’s salary, your entire system will begin to scream out loud.

Ensure that your flesh does not become a hindrance when it comes to the dealings of God in your life.
