QUESTIONS OF A GENERATION (2): SHOULD I FOLLOW THE SUCCESSFUL OR THE SCRIPTURES?
Some years ago, I was in a place that we normally frequent. I called a beloved one to bring something. Then I added, “Please, do not follow the first turning to the left. Follow the second turning to the left. I will be waiting for you.”
It took him longer than usual. I was forced to ask him, “Which turning did you take?” He smiled and said, “I took the first turning to the left first, and then when I saw the damage, I had to turn and follow the instructions you gave.” I aked why he did not follow my instructions. He said, “I followed the road that we had always taken.” I smiled and told him, “You cannot be smarter than instructions.”
Beloved, one of the things the Word of God will do for you is instruct you into wisdom:
II Timothy 3:15-16 NKJV and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise ... All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable...for instruction in righteousness,
The Lord told the young, energetic and upcoming leader called Joshua that if he meditates on His Word, he will have a clear path to greatness and enjoy good success.
Should you learn from the successful? Definitely yes! There is room for teachers.
However, make sure it is the ones who succeed the scriptural way and not the satanic way.
Am I saying you can only learn medicine, law, or architecture from a Christian only? No! That is wisdom from books. You will have non-Christian teachers professionally.
What I am saying is that you can learn professionally from a renowned practitioner, but refuse to pick up womanizing. Learn fashion but refuse to pick up nudity. Learn movie production but not become a promoter of soft pornography.
The only thing that can help you to discern when the successful become “subtly serpentine” is the scriptures. If you do not know the scriptures, the slimy pit will pull you in.
Do you know that even prophets come as “wolves in sheep’s clothing”? Once a minister begins to tell you to sit on his lap for a ministration, or the touches are becoming suspect, run o!
You are called to follow fruits and not gifts. Do you know how gifted the devil is? If you follow gifts, you can end up in strange places. Follow fruits. That cannot be faked!
If they put the stamp “The Holy Spirit told me” to promote the profane, your spirit will know that that is not scripture.
If they push the line of sleeping together before marriage in movies, do you know what the Word has said?
If it promotes unrighteousness, it can never be the Holy Spirit, and it cannot be the scriptures. The Holy Spirit will always be in agreement with the Word.
Follow the scriptures before you follow the successful.
