QUESTIONS OF A GENERATION (6): WHY CAN’T I EMBRACE SOME NUDITY?
After the service, I walked up to my pastor to greet him. At the same time, a young lady, most likely a university student, also walked up to him. My pastor asked her, “Do you wear clothes to school at all?” It was a simple question. She said, “Yes, sir. Yes, sir”. If she could appear like that in church, trust me, she would appear worse in any other place.
As a young chap, there were things we did that we thought were attractive to females, but growth made me realize that it disgusted them, especially the ones you really wanted to attract. It was counterproductive.
Nudity has become trendy. Everywhere you look, including birthday and wedding photoshoots of some believers, you have to check and search for the right picture to use. What happened to us? A generation has risen that has no respect for boundaries. It is almost becoming normal.
It may sound harsh: Nudity and madness are twins. In scriptures, the way people knew that the Mad Man of the Gadarenes was whole was simple:
Mark 5:15 NKJV
[15] Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
He was clothed and in his right mind.
When God is there, he always covers our nakedness. He did it for Adam and Eve. Sin wants you naked. God wants you covered.
How about the standard of the priestly appearance? It was glory before beauty. It was not just about beauty first. So, all the suggestions about “You will look beautiful if you show some flesh” are not the way to go. Ask them, “Will it give glory to God?”
Exodus 28:2 NKJV
[2] And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.
Before “Is it beautiful?”, please ask, “Does it glorify God?” And “Does this dignify me?”
Hosea was talking in prophecy, and he said these words:
Hosea 2:2 MSG
Tell her to quit dressing like a whore, displaying her breasts for sale.
Dress for glory.
Dress for beauty.
You are a New Testament priest!
