WHEN IT IS NOT GOING YOUR WAY (3)

A preacher shared the story of how things went so badly for one of his friends. He decided to come to Nigeria to take a prayer retreat with his friend. As they both prayed, he prayed in a calm manner, but at a point, his friend began to groan in prayer. All he could hear was “Jehovah ehhhhh, Jehovah ahhhhh.” This continued for hours. 

The Lord spoke to him, “Tell your friend that I have remembered him and the matter has turned.” He delivered the message to his friend with joy. He jokingly said, “I changed my own prayer style too and said ‘Jehovah Ehhhhh, Jehovah ahhhhh.” He said he did not want to be a messenger who returned the same way. 

If things are not going your way, there are two keys hidden here: 

First, do you have a friend that you can call on or who will call on you? Do you have a person who can agree with you in prayer? Do you have friends like that man with palsy who can carry you to Jesus? There is power in friendship that strengthens. There is a supply of faith that a friend can bring in the midst of trials. There are friends who stand with you in adversity. The hug of a friend can be reassuring. May the Lord bless you with faithful friends. May the Lord make you a faithful friend also.

Second, when things are not going the way you desire, you must learn to pray. Call a timeout. Get into the zone of prayer. Pray! Push! Listen to Apostle James: 

“Is there anyone afflicted, let him pray” (James 5:13)

It did not say that you should cry. It did not say that you should fold your hands. It did not say that you should just keep worrying. No! It said to pray. 

That thing that is not allowing you to pray but allows you to cry, worry, talk to others, but not God, is the real warfare. Throw aside the garment of heaviness. Step out of the pit of tiredness. Please, pray! Pray! 

Call a friend who can go on a journey with you. Fan the embers of prayer back. Call upon the Lord.

Psalms 50:15 NKJV

[15] Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Listen! The backbone of the health challenge is broken now. The root of that financial downturn is uprooted now. The fang of depression is pulled out. You are snatched from strange happenings. Walk in victory. Talk in triumph. Rise into your new season.
