THE BLESSING OF UNUSUAL SUPPLIES
The young man (an undergraduate) mentioned that he was surprised when he heard I was in Eruwa. He could not believe that I could ever settle in the community, especially since I rarely spent any of my breaks from school in the community. I shared the vision with him.
Some days later, he sent a message that he won a scholarship fund, and the Lord had asked him to send it as a seed for the work. That was what we used to buy the first set of chairs for the ministry. We used those chairs for our first indoor meeting called “Word and Prayer Feast,” where I taught “Steps into Destiny- Lessons from the Life of Ruth.”
Beloved, Jesus sent out his disciples, and when they returned, he asked them a simple but important question that everyone who has been called into this work must ask himself.
And He said to them, “When I sent you without a money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.”
Luke 22:35 NKJV
God sent without a money bag. He had an option of sending with money, but how would he learn to live by faith, absolute trust, and total surrender to the Lordship of Christ? How do you learn contentment on the journey? How do you learn that even though faith says you have it now, patience says you would build character to receive it?
The joy of it is just like Jesus asked the disciples; we must also be able to answer Him with confidence and assurance that we lack nothing. If it is God’s work, it must be done at His pace, with His peace, and without any pressure. If He has called you, He will meet your needs.
When God sent him to give his scholarship fund, it was between him and God; I must not turn the young man to my source. Can you imagine if I keep my eyes on his scholarship fund and not on God? I would have missed it.
If God has called you into ministry to serve Him with your life and your time (your lifetime), you will go through the basics of building your faith. If you are in any place that keeps feeding you rather than feeding your faith, you will lose the battle somewhere in the future. You will not be able to fight the good fight of faith. Refuse to be spoon-fed! Press in and build your faith for the work.
In the end, you will be able to say, like the disciples, “We lacked nothing.” Build your faith muscles.
Let me state that there will be times when God will meet your needs systematically. For instance, you learn and master the principles of savings for the future. However, on the days the savings and all the systems cannot meet the need, would you have built the faith and patience for supernatural supply?
