PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR (2)

PRAY FOR YOUR PASTOR (2)

There was a missionary who took ill while on the mission field. His health deteriorated, so they had to fly him to his home country. The medical doctors did all they could, and it seemed as though there was no solution in sight.

The missionary made an interesting request. He asked that he should be taken back to the mission field. He said that he believed that once those he had spent his life ministering to pray for him, he would be restored. He mentioned that they all carried a portion of his life within them and they can minister some back to him.

Left with no other option, they flew him back to the mission field. Just as he said, those he had spent his life ministering to prayed for and with him and his health was restored.

Beloved, do not joke with standing in the gap for your pastors. There are times that people, in a bid to sound humble, say things like, “Pastor, I am not worthy to pray for you. May God pray for you on my behalf”. That is impossible. It is also unscriptural.

Even if you feel like you are a child in the faith, there comes a time when children must be able to defend the gates.

Psalms 127:5 NKJV
[5] Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them (children); They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Someone David trained and raised defended him when a giant was almost killing him. You can pray for your pastor.

When Jesus was faced with the demand of dying on the cross, and it was overwhelming for him, he asked his disciples to pray for him.

Matthew 26:38 NKJV
[38] Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

Finally, Paul, writing to the Corinthians, made mention of how their prayers can be helpful in the face of death threats:

2 Corinthians 1:10-11a NIV
[10] He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, [11] as you help us by your prayers.

“As you help us by your prayers”- Did you see that? Another version puts it in a very striking way:

“You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation.”

If your prayers are the only thing heaven can leverage to rescue your pastor from a death threat, will he live long? Will he be rescued? Think about it.
