WHERE IS THE BREEDING GROUND?
Rats can be very naughty. We started seeing “one rat” in our house. We initially ignored it and made plans to kill it. One day, we saw two different ones, and we concluded that the rats may not be more than three or four inside the house.
We made an assumption. By the time we began to engage actively, we killed about five, and we kept seeing rats. We knew there was an invasion. We started keeping valuables away. They would eat up anything. We killed as many as twenty before we had some respite. They were always active at night.
One day, a beloved one said, “When rats invaded our house, we kept killing them until we discovered their breeding ground”. He then added, “They will likely be breeding in a place you have ignored for long, and you do not check”.
First, a lesson from the rats. You can multiply when you learn the power of the secret place. Do you have a place of quietness? Do you have a secret place? Do you have a place where you brood on matters as you engage the Spirit of the Lord?
Second, a lesson that serves as a warning. Truly, we found their breeding ground (at least one of them) inside a carton of used, useful and abandoned toys. They were breeding right at the base. There was a fresh litter of tiny rats there.
What area of your life and journey are you not giving or paying attention to? Where is sin breeding in your life? Where is the landing area for ungodly behaviour? Where is the trigger point for that addiction?
Where is anger breeding?
Where is pride multiplying?
Where is lukewarmness staying?
Where is the breeding ground for lust?
Where did that strange desire to look upon a lady lustfully breeding?
Go and dig it out. Ask the LORD to expose any breeding ground for sin in your life.
When David did not deal with that appetite for women early enough, he went from Abigail to adding more wives and concubines and then to Bathsheba.
2 Samuel 5:13 GNT
[13] After moving from Hebron to Jerusalem, David took more concubines and wives, and had more sons and daughters.
It was a slope because he did not address the breeding ground. Eventually, Bathsheba happened!
What pit are you digging because you have spots that you have left unaddressed? Go and address it today. Take light from the Word. Turn it on it. Take pesticide (sin-icide, lusticide, pridicide) in prayer and kill it right there.
No assumption. Take action!
