KEEP A JOURNAL OF DIVINE DEALINGS

KEEP A JOURNAL OF DIVINE DEALINGS

When the Lord told me that I would be heading to Eruwa for ministry, I prepared a simple document of my journey from 2006 till 2011, when I was to respond to the call of God. I had an update on everything he had continuously said about the ministry with time stamps on each of them.

A dear aunt who I knew loved me and we had been having conversations about my legal practise and the area of specialization I would focus on saw the document and said, “Temi, you prepared document like a lawyer with so much details of God’s encounter, how on earth does one argue against this. I have no response o”. I smiled.

One of the spiritual disciplines that you must have is that of journaling. Keep a record of lessons from your devotion, instructions from the Lord via dreams and visions, encounters with ministers of the gospel and significant moments.

First, if men did not keep records of their encounters and journey with the Lord as moved by the Spirit of the Lord, we would not have the bible as it is today. As a matter of fact, we have the entire book of Revelation because John, the beloved, was instructed to “Write”.

Revelation 1:19 NLT

“Write down what you have seen—both the things that are now happening and the things that will happen.

Second, your encounters on the journey become very useful the day you would be standing before the goliath of destiny fulfillment- fear, doubt or discouragement! You will dig out your book of memories and encounters and say without a doubt that this Goliath will be like one of them.

Third, it is proof of your seriousness. It shows your journey with the Lord. If you have to convince your parents, spouse or loved ones at any point in time, you would sound convincing and not confusing. Traceable and trackable encounters made it easy for Saul to allow David to face Goliath.

Fourth, documentation also brings clarity. You can track your dealings with the Lord. It makes it easy to communicate the vision so those who are to run with you can see it clearly.

Habakkuk 2:2 NLT

Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.

It helps your faith journey also. There are answers you seek today locked up in journals and sermon notes of yesteryear. What if I did not have them?

If Jeremiah did not write, what would Daniel have read that would have pushed him to intercession for the deliverance of Israel from captivity?

Keep a journal of divine dealings. They become your smooth stones the day you need one.

What if Isaiah did not keep a record?

What if Dr. Luke did not keep a record?

They did not know they were giving us a living and breathing book. Personal journals have become scriptures to another generation.

Do you keep a record?
