RECOVERING FROM A FALL (2) – THE CONFESSION STAGE

RECOVERING FROM A FALL (2) – THE CONFESSION STAGE

A man of God shared the story: While he was still raw and untrained in the ethics of the prophetic (especially as it applies to personal prophecies and the church), something happened to him. He got the privilege to lead a vigil in his church many years ago.

The moment he got on the pulpit. The first words that came out of his mouth were, “Pastor, there is a worker in church who was pregnant for one of the married leaders of the church. They have discussed abortion already”.

The leader rushed out in tears and confessed. He said he had wanted to admit to the pastor but did not know what to do. The lady also joined him. The church stepped in eventually, and they were disciplined, discipled and then restored.

What’s the point? That is the only child that the man has had in his lifetime to date. He is now a very aged man.

Beloved, when God reveals your wrongdoing, it may be mercy that is actually speaking for you. When God is quiet while you sin, judgment may be loading heavily.

King David was different from King Saul. The moment he was confronted, he admitted and was broken.

2 Samuel 12:13 NLT

Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.

He gave us a sneak peak into his life when he was struggling with guilt and shame before he confessed:

Psalms 32:3-4 NLT

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.

He also told us what happened when he eventually summoned the courage to confess his sin:

Psalms 32:5 NLT

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Confessing your sin is the freedom from self-deception.

1 John 1:8 KJV

[8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Confessing your sin is the key to cleansing and a new beginning.

1 John 1:9 NLT

[9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

The first seed of the adulterous affair between David and Bathsheba had to die. Amazingly, out of the same union of David and Bathsheba, God eventually raised a king for Israel called Solomon.

If you confess, God knows what to do about the mess that has been created.

Will you confess?

What happens when you do not confess when there is still time?

Psalms 32:6 NLT

Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.

There is something called the “floodwaters of judgment”. You do not want to drown in it.

There is love in sharing
