ADULTERY DAMAGES YOU

ADULTERY DAMAGES YOU

I asked for a paper tape (or plaster) for illustration purposes. I called out three men. I placed the paper tape (plaster) on the first person tightly. After a short while, I began to pull the tape off. You would see the slight pain in the eyes of the first man. It was painful and difficult to detach. We looked at the tape, and some tiny elements from his skin were already there.

I placed the same tape on the hands of another man. It is still glued a bit, but not as strongly as the first. When I pulled it out, it was easier and less painful to detach. Again, some tiny elements from the skin of the second person were on the tape.

Then I placed it on the third person. This time around, it was loose and harder to attach. The glue level had dropped drastically. It was a struggle getting it to stay. We did not have to do anything really hard to get it off. It keeps falling off by itself.

I looked into the congregation and said to them all, “That is what sexual sin does to a man”.

When you commit adultery, you injure yourself. The first union you have is meant to be strong and stand for long. It is always very hard to commit the first sacrilege. But if you ever get into that slope, it can become a battle forever.

How do you injure yourself?

First, you have signed up for a lifetime of pains and regrets. Hear the words of David:

Psalms 38:3-8 MSG
I’ve lost twenty pounds in two months because of your accusation. My bones are brittle as dry sticks because of my sin. I’m swamped by my bad behaviour, collapsed under an avalanche of guilt. [5-8] The cuts in my flesh stink and grow maggots because I’ve lived so badly. And now I’m flat on my face feeling sorry for myself morning to night. All my insides are on fire, my body is a wreck. I’m on my last legs; I’ve had it— my life is a vomit of groans.

Second, your worth drops. You are reduced to the price of a loaf of bread. Some versions say that you are reduced to crumbs. What is the value of the crumbs?

Proverbs 6:26 TPT
Prostitutes reduce a man to poverty, and the adulteress steals your soul— she may even cost you your life!

There is no smartness in adultery. There is no wisdom in it at all.

Proverbs 6:27-35 MSG
Can you build a fire in your lap and not burn your pants? Can you walk barefoot on hot coals and not get blisters? It’s the same when you have sex with your neighbour’s wife: Touch her and you’ll pay for it. No excuses. Hunger is no excuse for a thief to steal; When he’s caught he has to pay it back, even if he has to put his whole house in hock. Adultery is a brainless act, soul-destroying, self-destructive; Expect a bloody nose, a black eye, and a reputation ruined for good. For jealousy detonates rage in a cheated husband; wild for revenge, he won’t make allowances. Nothing you say or pay will make it all right; neither bribes nor reason will satisfy him.

Adultery is a brainless act.
Adultery is a soul-destroying act.
Adultery is self-destructive.

You ruin your reputation for good.

Proverbs 6:32 ICB
[32] A man who takes part in adultery doesn’t have any sense. He will destroy himself.

Do you have sense? Do not destroy yourself?
Run. Run. Run.

It is not worth it!
