2026 WON’T BE NEW UNTIL YOU ARE
As he got into the car to start it so they could begin the trip, the car did not respond. He knew something was wrong with the battery. Fortunately, there was another car nearby. All we needed to do was swap batteries. We were sure it would work afterward.
But there was a challenge—we did not have the tools to unscrew the batteries. We were stuck. We reached out for help, and a man nearby brought us a pair of pliers and an oversized spanner. No matter how much we tried, we simply struggled. We made no headway.
Eventually, the same man came with the exact size of the spanner that we needed. In less than ten minutes, we had the car running.
Beloved, it is important to know what you have to do, but it is equally important to have the right tools. With the right tools, the work becomes easier. There are things you are struggling with right now simply because the right tools are lacking.
The preacher spoke about the labour of a fool and how it wears both the foolish and others out. They knew they wanted to get to the city but did not know how.
Ecclesiastes 10:15 NKJV
[15] The labor of fools wearies them, For they do not even know how to go to the city!
Many want a great marriage. They just do not know how. Many want freedom from a strange addiction, but they just do not know how.
Wisdom is the divine technology that answers the question of “How.” You can know what to do and still struggle with the application. Wisdom is not just the hearing and acquisition of knowledge; the journey of a wise person is not concluded until the person begins to practise.
Practise. Application. Obedience. That is where the answer is. Many struggle with applying the Word in situations. That is the key.
Matthew 7:24-25 NKJV
[24] “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: [25] and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
You may have gathered tools, but do you have the right ones? That is the key!
If the journey is to be smooth, it must not just be a happy new year; let it be a new you.
I know you have gathered new wine for the journey, but is it in a new or an old wineskin?
Mark 2:22 NKJV
[22] And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
Before you step into the new year, pause. Examine your wineskin. Don’t just celebrate the new year, prepare for it. Look within and ask yourself: What must change for the journey ahead to truly be new?
Go for the right tools.
