DENY THE DEVIL HIS FOOD
In our first year at the University, some students (whom we later discovered were part of the Students’ Union security team) came into our room. They asked for my childhood friend. Apparently, there had been a false accusation. A phone was stolen. Someone he knew was accused of theft. In order to get to the root of the matter, they went to search those connected to him.
Eventually, it was proven that neither the accused nor my childhood friend had anything to do with the stolen phone.
What if they had found the stolen phone with any of them? They would not have spared them at all. The beating would have been unforgettable.
Friends, the devil is roaring like a lion. He is seeking whom to devour. What do lions eat? They consume flesh. Paul warned us about the works of the flesh in the book of Galatians.
If the devil comes around you and finds what he can feed on, he will not spare you. What do you do?
First, Mortify the deeds of the Flesh.
“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,”
Colossians 3:5, 8-9 NKJV
Second, live a life that produces fruit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV
When the lion comes and finds flesh, he will eat you up. However, starve the lion to death, but produce fruit! He will leave you alone.
Be like Christ. When the prince of this world comes, let him find none of his properties in your life.
