DO NOT CHOOSE WITH YOUR EYES ALONE

DO NOT CHOOSE WITH YOUR EYES ALONE

When my Dad was contemplating building his own house, there were options as to where to build. There was a more developed portion of town where many were building at the time. It was closer to family and major institutions. However, he said, for some reason, he just did not have a desire to build there.

He eventually chose a totally new area. It did not look like a great decision at one point, but over time, our flooded roads in the rainy season became fully tarred, and our snake-prone environment was full of houses. Years have passed, and that area is arguably the finest in the town. It did not look like it at the time, but today, the beauty has emerged.

If you choose with your eyes, all you see will be today. You are limited. Everyone who chooses with their mere sight always ends up with a disaster. Lot chose with his eyes; he ended in Sodom. Jacob chose with his eyes; he laboured for fourteen years for a wife. Meanwhile, his father used less than a week to get his mother from the same family.

If you choose with your eyes, you can choose a company with higher pay without knowing that the government policy will kill that business in a few months.

If you choose with your eyes, you can choose a man or woman who fits you today without realising what tomorrow holds.

The eyes are limited. Our physical senses are limited. Hear Apostle Paul:

“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Engage the Spirit of the Lord in your decision-making. Ask the Lord- Is this for me? Should I go for it? Tell the Lord, “Lead me to places, people and opportunities you have prepared”. Tell the Lord, “Father, whatever you will not give me, let me not waste time struggling for it”. It saves you from a lot of trouble.

May you be discerning. May you cooperate with the Lord who knows tomorrow. Amen
