DEALING WITH STRANGE ATTRACTIONS AFTER MARRIAGE 1

A man told his pastor, “I always look forward to Monday every week”. The pastor asked him why. He said, “I like seeing and spending time with my secretary”. His pastor told him to sack the secretary immediately.

Right after you say “I do”, There is a tendency to meet someone who seems better than your spouse.

There is always a tendency to see the twenty percent that your spouse lacks in someone else. When you see the twenty percent, you become attracted to it. The mind has a way of ignoring the eighty percent that they do so well.

If marriage was based on mere carnal desires, you will soon run into trouble. You will see women with better shapes and see men with amazing looks. You must keep your eyes single, or you will end up in trouble.

What can be the trigger points?

Proximity. There are times when working in close proximity to someone can be the trigger point. If you see each other and communicate a lot, it can spark flames.

Ignorance or Naivety. There are times when ignorance can lead a person into unfaithfulness. For example, someone keeps calling you endearing names, and you fall for it or buys you gifts, or gives you compliments which you do not get from your spouse, and you see it as normal.

[5] Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman. [6] While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, [7] I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. [8] He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path by her house.

Stress. At times, in stress like Samson, you can find relief in the opposite sex other than your spouse. A time of comforting another woman or even a man can lead you into trouble.

Rationalization. Instead of admitting you are already sliding into an emotional affair, you keep telling yourself you are only helping the person by counselling him or her. Now you talk a lot on the phone. You are sliding off already.

Deal with strange attractions. Kill the flames before it ruins your life.
