DEALING WITH STRANGE ATTRACTIONS AFTER MARRIAGE 5
The wife noticed that once he got back home, he would give her brief answers about his day and carry on casually. However, he would get on a phone call and speak for a long while with another person, sharing details about the day.
She ignored it initially, but when it became prevalent, she confronted him one day while on the call. He was talking to another lady whom he was trying to help with a matter. The conversation was already moving from counselling to emotional attachments. It was on a slope. Once confronted, he discovered his error.
If you will not fall into the trap of adultery, you must give your spouse a chance to point things out to you. Your spouse is the closest to you. They see what others do not and will not see. They know your tendencies. When they point things out, do not become defensive.
Be willing to receive feedback even when it is not comfortable. There is a tendency for genuine acts of care to slide into a state of crisis. Care can become carelessness. Even a beautiful flower, when left to itself, can become a wild one. See their feedback as an act of pruning so that the beauty of your life can emerge and be preserved.
It is still part of the principle of naked and not ashamed. The one who can see your nakedness has a critical role to play in your life. Love them and love their counsel.
Deal with the pride in your heart. Pull down that stronghold of familiarity. Accept their feedback with joy. Be meek. Thank them and make adjustments.
Most people would have survived crisis if they had listened to their spouses. Please listen!
When Abraham wanted to continue nurturing Ishmael and Hagar, the Lord said to him, “Listen to your wife”.
“But God said to Abraham, “Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called.”
Genesis 21:12 NKJV
That counsel can be all you need today- Listen to your wife. Listen to your husband.
