DADDY, COME AND SEE WHERE I FELL

I went to pick Danielle and her mum after the close of work. On arrival, Danielle came downstairs while Irewamiri was still upstairs. She greeted me and said, “Daddy, I fell down”. I did a pitiful face and told her, “Sorry dear”.

The next thing I heard turned on a switch within me. She said to me, “Daddy, come and see where I fell”. I was tired but I stood up and walked all the way with her to the playground where she pointed to the spot where she fell.

At that very moment, it struck me that in my walk as a child of God, my falling moments may not be moments I am proud of but they obviously must not be moments that I hide from God. I should not package before God as though I did not fall. I would only be deceiving myself.

It takes the innocence and sincerity of a child to grow into a man in Christ. Solomon definitely knew what he was saying when he mentioned that, “He who covers his sins shall not prosper”.

You can’t whitewash your sins and get by with it; you find mercy by admitting and leaving them.
Proverbs 28:13 MSG

Do not package like ‘all is well’. Do not cover your dirty hands and bruised knees. You are on a journey and if you fall, talk to the One who is able to keep you from falling.

If you have to take a break from the work of God so you can fix your walk with God, then take it. Do not turn your work for God to the heroin that keeps you going. You do not deal with your mess by trying to do more for God. You are only creating a bigger mess for yourself. Repent. Confess. Seek Accountability. Retreat.

If the axe-head is dull, it will be folly to keep using it to fall trees. No! You pause. You sharpen it. You resume again.

It is not a sin to be tired but it would be terrible to allow your weariness to lead you into lust, outbursts of anger, emotional affairs, adultery! Go and fix yourself.

I know singing and leading songs make you feel good but that place where you fell will become the grave of your spiritual walk if you do not fix it now. You know that you are only singing on “borrowed time” and “skilful presentations” without the depth and dimensions that only grace can supply. Go and show Daddy where you fell.

For the past eight months, it has been difficult to say “No” to ungodliness. You are battling with your spiritual walk but you are taking on more titles and responsibilities in the church. It makes you feel good but you know you are getting drained. Go and ask for help.

Take a break from what you do so you can allow God to work on who you are. He is more interested in your walk with Him than your work for Him.

Go and show Daddy where you fell!
