“I AM HURT I DID NOT GROW UP WITH MY PARENTS”

I was teaching in church one evening when I had a significant digression and I said, “Let me talk to some of you who did not grow up with your parents. You were used in an uncle’s house as a slave. You were the one who cleaned up the mess everyone made. You saw things that you have not recovered from”. I saw the eyes of some of the folks in church light up. I know people were going through that season. You could catch the energy in their spirit literally.

Friends, I know that it is the natural arrangement of life and destiny to grow up with your parents. But somewhere along the line, the situation took you away from their laps and you have to grow up in places that did not look like home. Now! You have seen things in life that has toughened you up.

Listen to me: What is the chance that Samuel would have become a prophet if he did not get to live with Eli, Hophni and Phinehas? It was there he mastered the art of following and hearing God- it was the major training for his role as Israel’s major prophet!

I know you grew up in an environment where your innocence was abused but look back today and you will see that there was indeed light in the midst of it all.

Look at you- you were the dishwasher, laundryman/woman, nanny, messenger and at many times the cook. You were the first to wake up and the last to sleep. You cried many nights but look at you today- you are resourceful (there is nothing that you cannot handle diligently) and you are resilient (you have a never say die spirit).

Hear me, you are God’s Moses. Pharaoh’s palace was the place of your disguise. It was where you were protected from the wicked grip of death. It did not look like it. You wanted to be with your people but your life was about something bigger, you were called to bring your people out.

Hear me, you are God’s David. You are serving what you have been anointed to replace. Take a chill pill. Stay calm. Saul’s javelin will not kill you but will kill every tendency in you that can make you repeat Saul’s mistakes. It is your training.

Great Men are not shaped in comfortable places. The labour room of destiny comes with its cries, pains and groans. In the end, you will birth what will make you laugh.

Take a Word from Paul:

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
