“I CAN’T LIE ON THIS FLOOR, MY CLOTHES WILL BE STAINED”

I was at a conference somewhere in the southern part of the country. As we worshipped, I sensed to lie on the floor. The floor of the church was rough but I still did eventually in worship. After the meeting, a man walked up to me and said, “I love the way you worship”. I appreciated him but then he said, “You must be a Yoruba man”. I smiled. What I did was not about culture, it was about Christ!

God can use simple things to test your humility. It is the day you wear a sparkling clean white shirt or a new suit that you will pick the prompt to lay on your face in worship. Unfortunately, there will be no rug or tiles around. It is always very tough.

A dear father in the faith will always share about how they did the groundbreaking service for one of their organizations. Right after the service, he said the Lord said to him, “Lay on your face in thanksgiving”. His suit sparkling but he obeyed the Lord. The Lord said to him, “Now, I will carry this project for you”. They built in record time.

This is not bringing a doctrine out of laying on your face in worship. No! It is about passing the test of humility when it does not make any sense. There is a connection between what you do with physical things and how much God can trust you with destiny assignments.

He also chose David His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds; From following the ewes that had young He brought him, To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
Psalms 78:70‭-‬72 NKJV

He took him from a physical assignment into a destiny appointment. Why? He was faithful with the few.

David did not bother about status and class when it comes to the Lord. He was not trying to be a packaged dignified King. He gave God His best. Michal hated it.

David returned home to bless his family. Michal, Saul’s daughter, came out to greet him: “How wonderfully the king has distinguished himself today—exposing himself to the eyes of the servants’ maids like some burlesque street dancer!” David replied to Michal, “In God’s presence I’ll dance all I want! He chose me over your father and the rest of our family and made me prince over God’s people, over Israel. Oh yes, I’ll dance to God’s glory—more recklessly even than this. And as far as I’m concerned… I’ll gladly look like a fool… but among these maids, you’re so worried about, I’ll be honoured no end.”
