ACCIDENTS WHILE WATCHING ACCIDENTS
I was returning home on a commercial motorcycle. We spotted a truck that had derailed on the main road. While I said, “Oh what happened there?”, The rider turned his head and kept looking at the scene. What he did not know was that we were already derailing from our part of the road and were almost running into a car trying to avoid another parked car.
With a stern voice, I called the rider back to reality, “Face where you are going”. That was when he realised that we had derailed.
The Holy Spirit used it to teach me major lessons:
First, do not get carried away when you see others derail. Soldiers cannot get carried away when a colleague is hit. They know it is proof that bullets are still flying. Soldiers who are really rescuing a wounded soldier are still in the heat of the battle. They don’t have the time to grant press interviews or pose for a shot.
Save others by snatching them from the fire ⌊of hell⌋. Show mercy to others, even though you are afraid that you might be stained by their sinful lives. Jude 1:23 GW
Why is this important? You must remember that “It can happen to you also”.
Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]– Jude 1:24 AMPC
Second, remember you are also on a journey. It is a reminder that you keep your gaze on the road.
Paul knows this quite alright when he told the Galatian Church these words:
Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be
needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Galatians 6:1MSG
Third, if you are not careful you can make a far more grievous error.
Did you see the words that Paul used? “Save the critical comments for yourself”. Do not turn the sword inside out. Let the Words you want to speak pierce your heart first. Let it heal your wounds. Else, the devil will capitalize on your pain to inflict greater havoc on you.
If you are not careful, you may be needing forgiveness before the day is out. The devil is not stupid. He can use the fall of a soldier to attack more soldiers. What will he use? Bitterness, Hurt and Offence- very sneaky but effective demons.
