APPRECIATE CLOSED DOORS

APPRECIATE CLOSED DOORS

We were house hunting a while back. We saw a house that fit our desires. We spoke with the agent in charge of the house. He contacted the Landlord, and we fixed a time to inspect the house.

We took a trip to meet up with the appointment. The agent had spoken to the landlord. He still spoke to him just fifteen minutes before our arrival. The Landlord told him to come and mentioned that he was at home.

Then everything took a new turn. We got to the gate of the house. The agent called out to the landlord. He knocked on the gate.  The security man at the entrance of the estate mentioned that he just drove in, and he was inside. We waited for over an hour. It was getting a bit frustrating.

Just then, another agent came and said, “There is a house not too far from here, would you love to see it?” We had no choice.

Just as we were about to leave, the security men at the estate gate mentioned that the landlord had a terrible history with his tenants. Another person confirmed it.

When we got to the new house, our hearts jumped. It was exactly what we were looking for. It was exactly what our daughters had prayed for.

In retrospect, we are always still grateful for the landlord that shut his door.

Beloved, there are times we must be grateful that certain doors we desperately wanted to access remained shut. It would look like everything was against us. At times, it would look like time was being wasted. But be calm. God knows what He is doing.

How did Joseph feel when the cupbearer forgot him for two full years? His hopes must have risen initially. If the cupbearer had remembered him, maybe he would be free but at best be a slave again in the cupbearer’s home.  But when it was God’s time, the nation heard him.

Psalms 105:17-22 NLT

[17] Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave. [18] They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar. [19] Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character. [20] Then Pharaoh sent for him and set him free; the ruler of the nation opened his prison door. [21] Joseph was put in charge of all the king’s household; he became ruler over all the king’s possessions. [22] He could instruct the king’s aides as he pleased and teach the king’s advisers.

Be grateful for closed doors. Be grateful for perfect timings. Be grateful while you wait. God knows what He is doing
