BEFORE MY WIFE SAID “YES”

I will never forget the way my wife said “Yes” to my proposal. Her words were carefully selected and stuck to my heart.

She looked at me that evening and said, “I said Yes to God two days ago and I want to say Yes to you today” (classic).

I did not know how deep it was until I saw these lines in the scriptures:

“And they did not do as we expected, BUT THEY GAVE THEMSELVES FIRST TO THE LORD AND THEN TO US IN KEEPING WITH GOD’S WILL” (2 Cor. 8:6)

Marriages get into trouble when folks give themselves to each other (spirit, soul and body) first and then come to God for joining. That is a disorder.

If all you learnt in courtship is running into your mates hands for sexual activities, then do not become the type that turn churches to consolation centres and climb mountains for prayer contractors.

Give yourself first to God. Be sold out to Him. Let the spouse who wants you come and get you from the hands of your father.

The will of God is the foundation. A person who walks in His will must go through character formation, even personal hygiene training (God our father loves cleaniness).

Your spirituality must never be an excuse for shabby living. It is not an excuse for mediocrity. Dont tell me that it is the sweat from prayer that is giving you body odour. Be refined.

Do not run into the hands of a man or woman except you run into God’s hands first.

The greatest joy of it all is that no one can fight the will of God and win. Even kings serve the purpose and the will of God

The King’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills. Proverbs 21:1 AMPC

When it is the will of God, you can easily stand on His promises when storms arise. It becomes an anchor.

Make sure your marital journey is rooted in the will of God and not just in the beauty of a man or a woman.
