DO YOU HAVE A VOICE OF CAUTION?

DO YOU HAVE A VOICE OF CAUTION?

Early in the morning, a dear aunt of mine calls out of the blues. She had just one question, "Temi, when last did you go for your eye check up?" It had been a while. The next thing she said was, "Once I drop this call, get to the eye clinic".

I am glad I obeyed immediately. The doctor told me that it was a good thing I came on time. My eye pressure had risen significantly. I instantly submitted to all the medical procedures I should have done earlier. I got my medications also.

Do you have people in your life who sound the alarm and ring the warning bells when things are going wrong? Do you have people in your life who have your permission to give instructions and not just suggestions? Do you have people in your life who can call you out when they can see the clear signals that something is wrong? Without them, you will end up with a huge load of disasters.

At a point in David’s life, there was a fearful rendition of scriptures:

“Now Satan entered the scene and seduced David into taking a census of Israel. David gave orders to Joab and the army officers under him, “Canvass all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and get a count of the population. I want to know the number.”” 1 Chronicles 21:1-2 MSG

When you heart is being seduced by sexual immorality, false breakthrough or strange teachings, do you have anyone in your space who can sound the alarm and you would immediately apply the brakes?

Joab tried to play that role but he did not have that level of credibility and authority in King David’s life:

“Joab resisted: “May GOD multiply his people by hundreds! Don’t they all belong to my master the king? But why on earth would you do a thing like this—why risk getting Israel into trouble with God?”” 1 Chronicles 21:3 MSG

David refused his counsel. He shut him up and went on to do what he wanted to do. He regretted it later.

“Then David prayed, “I have sinned badly in what I have just done, substituting statistics for trust; forgive my sin—I’ve been really stupid.”” 1 Chronicles 21:8 MSG

Who did God eventually use?

“GOD answered by speaking to Gad, David’s pastor: “Go and give David this message…” 1 Chronicles 21:9-10 MSG

One person you should give the permission to sound the alarm either in direct conversations or from teachings and ministrations is your pastor.

Listen! If you think you are self-sufficient, you have set yourself up to self-destruct!

Do you have a voice of caution? Do you have a voice of correction? If you do not, trouble is loading! Fix it before the devil’s seduction gets a grip on your soul.
