EXCITEMENT MUST BE WITH GUIDANCE

EXCITEMENT MUST BE WITH GUIDANCE

Right after the scan was done, we were leaving the ultrasound room with so much joy and excitement. We handed over the results to the doctor (who is also a childhood friend). He scanned through the results. The next words he said set the tone for the journey.

He looked at this excited couple and said, “Congratulations. On this journey till we have this baby, I cease to be your friend. I am now your doctor”. He played the role of a doctor amazingly well.

The start of a vision can be very exciting, but you will soon realise that you will need more than the initial excitement. Starting is great, but we must also be finishers.

On the journey, you need midwives who bring clarity to your journey, correction when you are wrong, commendation when you are right, courage when you are fearful and renewed conviction when you are doubting.

Their greatest work is watching you deliver that God-given vision. There are people with a great vision that should have been birthed but have not simply because they like the company of fans and are not fully yielded to tough reviews and correction.

When you carry a baby, you do not run to just anyone for delivery. When you carry a vision, trust the Lord for midwives.

In the excitement of returning the ark, David forgot to seek guidance. It led to a disaster, including the death of Uzzah. Excitement is not enough. Seek guidance.

“For because you did not do it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” So, the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.”
