HOW TO BUILD A RICH WORD CULTURE IN YOUR HOME 1

The man came back home drunk. As he walked into his living room late that night, his first daughter who was still very young said (in Yoruba language), “Senseless man! He has gotten himself drunk again”.

Where did the young girl learn it from? The mother! The hurt and bitterness of the mother have been sown as a seed in the life of the daughter.

The man used to drink so much that he left his wife who had a Caesarean section in the hospital in pain to go rejoice with his friends. They were revelling in alcoholic drinks.

There are spouses who have transferred the bitterness they have for their husband or wife into the children. They keep loading their children with negative emotions.

Have you asked yourself why you hate your dad or your mum? Do you realise that you hate a man or woman you have never met, or you do not know much about simply because you were loaded with negative information about them? Is it not the same way some parents make their children an extension of their family feud by telling them which uncle or aunt not to talk to ever?

The first two steps to take when it comes to building to rich word culture in your home are:

• You must have a rich deposit of God’s Word in your heart. This is very important.

Colossians 3:16 NKJV

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

This is very essential. It is the very first step. You cannot have a flow of rich words when you do not have a bank of rich words.

If you see men use vulgar words on one another, it is because they have a bank full of vulgar words. You cannot give what you do not have it.

• The second step is to find out the root of the words you speak

Is it coming from bitterness?

Is it coming from Unforgiveness?

Is it coming from pride?

Is it coming from hurt?

Why is this important? Healed people speak healing words. Hurting people speak hurting words.

Jesus told us that: “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

Luke 6:45 NLT.

Whatever you say flows from what is in your heart.  If you are full of negative emotions like bitterness, your words will also be full of the same. If you are full of great emotions like joy, you will produce joy when you speak.
