HOW TO SECURE DIVINE GUIDANCE (3)
I was sitting with a dear teacher in a meeting lounge when she said to my wife and me, “You are both so meek. You make it very easy to teach you.” I sincerely appreciated the compliment and then told her, “I was not always like that, ma. I used to think it was just about being brilliant, and I always tried to figure it out on my own.” I then added, “Ma, it took brokenness to get to this point.”
It is always very hard to guide a proud man. It is always easy to lead a meek man. Meekness is one of the ways you secure divine guidance. Without meekness, you will keep struggling in pride (with a dose of ignorance) even when the Lord is merciful enough to point things out to you.
Make sure you remain meek. It is a major key to securing divine guidance. The Psalmist mentioned it:
Psalms 25:9 TPT
[9] Keep showing the humble your path and lead them to the best decision. Bring revelation-light that trains them in the truth.
Moses was a meek man (Numbers 12:3) and God showed him His ways (Psalm 103:7). David would not assume anything with the Lord. He would always go back to ask the Lord questions. He did not say in pride that God who did it before would do it again. Even though he knew, he returned to ask the Lord first. God changed the pattern of how to approach the battle. Learn to be patient with God. Be humble. Ask questions.
Make sure you also do not make up your mind and then pretend as though you are still interested in hearing from God. Dethrone the idols in your heart first or else even when you pray, God will answer you according to the idol you have raised in your heart.
Ezekiel 14:4 NKJV
[4] “Therefore speak to them, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols,
If you have already made up your mind that it is Peter you will marry, why then are you bothering the Lord? You cannot be guided that way. Why seek guidance when you know what you want to do?
Make it a habit to ask the Lord for what He is saying. Constantly ask, “Lord, what are you saying?” It will help you greatly on the journey of divine guidance. Be willing to follow His instructions.
