IF YOU ARE STARTING A NEW SEASON 1

IF YOU ARE STARTING A NEW SEASON 1

Two of my dear sons in the faith got admission into the University. They came to ask me a very beautiful question, “Sir, what would you do differently if you were to go to the university now? What is your counsel to us?”

I gave my counsel to them. They both finished with good grades. They were both spiritually grounded and strong. They both attained financial independence as students. They stopped relying on resources from home. It was a great joy seeing who they had become.

You cannot be better than the counsel and the guidance you have received in life. If you want to change the trajectory of your life, you must also be open to great counsel.

Good counsel can lift. Terrible counsel can lead to loss. Think about Rehoboam, the son of King Solomon. He did well by seeking counsel, but he did terribly by the counsel he chose to follow. The counsel he followed led to a loss in his life and kingdom. What if he had followed the great counsel of the elders? The outcome would have been totally different.

The trap of young minds is the pride of “I know what I am doing”. If you have never been on a path before, be meek and humble enough to seek the counsel of those who have gone ahead of you. Pride turns gifted people into frustrated men in the long run. Pride turns a highflier into an average performer. If you can be humble enough to learn from those who have gone ahead, you will surely fly.

There are two lessons they can teach you- “How to do it” and “How not to do it”. It means that they can show you the pitfalls to avoid. Be humble enough to ask questions. No matter what it is in life- academics, career, marriage, business or even politics. Please, be humble enough to learn.

A child who will master calling must understand sitting. Jesus first sat with the teachers of the law. He asked questions.

“Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.”

Luke 2:46 NKJV

He followed his parents home and was submitted to them also. He learnt to sit.

“Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.”

Luke 2:51 NKJV

If you are entering a new season, ask the Lord to send you teachers who can counsel you. Do not enter with pride. You will make many mistakes and elongate your journey.
