INDECENCY AND DISCIPLESHIP CANNOT MIX
As she walked towards me to greet me, I gave a faint smile. When she drew near, I gave her a loving father’s knock. She drew back and obviously knew what she did. We have had repeated conversations on the importance of the decency of dressing- your breasts are not for public consumption.
Decency is not a strange thing to a disciple of Christ. Speaking in tongues topped up with some spilling out of the cleavage is not part of the curriculum of learning Christ.
But you have not so learned Christ…
Ephesians 4:20 NKJV
There are parts of the body that must remain covered. It has no business being outside no matter what you are celebrating. Birthday shoots and wedding pictures should not become exposure parties.
There is nothing that stays the same if indeed you are a disciple of Christ:
“If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:”
Ephesians 4:21 NKJV
First, you put off that old man and the old conducts. Its speciality is corruption and deceitful lust.
“that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”
Ephesians 4:22 NKJV
What is deceit? It is the action or practise of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. Certain things do not go together.
Second, there is to be a renewing of the Mind.
“and be renewed in the spirit of your mind”
Ephesians 4:23 NKJV
You cannot still be craving the same things and expect a renewal. You cannot still be feeding on the same junk videos, music and magazines and expect a renewal. Your life counsellor is an unsaved celeb. You cannot have a renewed mind that way. You will have gifts from Christ but you will lack the fruits from Christ.
Finally, when there is a renewing going on, then we definitely must see new things- a new way of talking (void of obscene talks), a new way of living (void of deceit) and a new way of dressing (void of indecent exposure).
If indeed there is a new man, then there must be old things that went away with the old man. Do not mix the two. Let’s know who indeed you are learning from- Christ or Strange Culture!
