RECOVERING FROM A FALL (8) – RENEWAL OF STRENGTH
He was caught in the trap of adultery. It was a terrible fall. He had repented and used his term in prison as a season of reflection and recovery. After serving his prison term for financial misappropriation, he was released. He was not quick to fight back and come into the limelight. He was not looking for a position. He decided to take the gospel to the slums. He consistently shared the love of God in such places. Those moments served as a time for renewal of strength.
There was a man in the scriptures who also lost the battle on the lap of a woman. He was a prominent figure. He shook the land. He uprooted gates. He slaughtered lions. He was a force. All of these were lost to the grip of sin. His hair was shaved by a woman. He was drained of power.
When his foes laid hands on him, they plucked out his eyes and turned him into a grinder in their prison. While in prison, his hair began to grow again. In quietness, one strand rose after the other until it became the full hair he had always had.
What Samson experienced, David put into prayers after he also fell into the bosom of lust:
Psalm 51:10 AMPC
[10] Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.
He cried for a renewal. Sin robs men of strength. Grace restores what has been lost. Samson cried out to the Lord also, and he had a last chance to deal the enemy a final blow.
Run from the subtle acts of pride that want to prove a point. Run from the spirit of “packaging”. Run from the spirit of “Come back up like nothing happened”.
When a man falls, he stands back up, but there is something important he does before continuing his walk- he dusts off anything that stuck to him and then checks his environment to be sure nothing is there to make him trip again.
Whatever brought a man down followed him to the top. If pride brought a man down and he still stands back in pride, his second fall would be a disaster.
Cry for renewal. Ask that the hair that was shaved grow again. Ask the Lord for strength again. Ask the Lord for grace to finish strong. Stay in the workshop of shaping. Do not be in a hurry to enter the showroom for now. Let the chisel of the Word remove anything that brought you down.
I pray for you- Your strength is renewed. What was lost is recovered.
