SHE WANTS TO SEE DADDY
We stepped out of the house to clean the car. The next moment we already had the cry of Olive. When we asked Danielle what the matter was, her response struck a chord. She said, “She wants to see Daddy”.
Beloved, God will never ignore a hungry soul. Hunger pulls the divine in your direction. Hunger is the extra pull which singles you out of the crowd.
It was hunger that made Zacchaues run ahead of the crowd. Jesus did not ignore that hunger. He did not just stop right under the Sycamore Tree for a conversation, He ended up in Zacchaues home sharing a meal and winning a soul for the kingdom.
The Psalms is full of hunger pangs and thirsty pull towards the divine:
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
Psalms 42:1-2 NKJV
David was definitely a champion in seeking the Lord:
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
Psalms 63:1 NLT
Jesus taught that there is a blessing attached to hunger and thirst.
“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
Matthew 5:6 MSG
How hungry are you? How thirsty are you? Do you still have a passionate longing for the divine? Is your taste for godly things still intact?
Will my prayer be yours also?
Lord, stir up an hunger within me.
Lord, give me a thirst for you.
