THERE ARE THINGS THAT CANNOT WAIT

THERE ARE THINGS THAT CANNOT WAIT

We were house-hunting about eight years ago. It had become a need. The Lord just led us to leave our rented house and most of the things in it, including everything in our living room and most of the other things, to those the Lord called alongside to serve with us in Eruwa. We needed a new house.

Irewamiri was heavily pregnant. While we were hunting for the house that afternoon, her water broke. We did not continue house hunting.  We stopped. We returned home and began to pack to go to the hospital. The house can wait, but birthing the child was a priority. We did not resume house hunting until after we had given birth to our baby. Why? There are things that cannot wait.

Can I humbly say to you that in the conversation about your destiny, there are matters that can be postponed and there are matters that cannot wait?

For instance, we preach Christ to people and they say, “Give me time to think about it”. What if this is the final opportunity you have? That is a destiny decision.

Running away from sin is a destiny decision. Pleasing God can never be on the same level and scale as the offer of Potiphar’s wife. Joseph’s life would have been in a pot and he would have been really far from destiny fulfilment. Why? There are destiny decisions that cannot wait.

Listen, there are men who hesitated and things that should not be their business caught up with them. It brought them down. At the time kings labour in war, King David was watching a bathing Bathsheba. He ended up birthing a curse that consumed his sons and his daughter too.

There are men who postponed obedience to God’s calling upon their lives who cannot respond to it any longer. The window of opportunity has closed. They are banging the door like the five foolish virgins who went to get extra oil, but the voice of the bridegroom is loud and clear, “No more entry”.

The devil knows that his time is short, yet his finest lie to men is, “Do not worry.  You still have time.”

Hear the Words of Apostle Paul:

But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God.

The night is about over, and dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed.

We can’t afford to waste a minute, and we must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, sleeping around and dissipation, bickering, and grabbing everything in sight.

Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!
