THINGS THAT WASTE (6) – WRONG MINDSETS

I was having a conversation with some of my dear ones and we began to share about things that have limited men in life. We began to share about how our culture and thinking makes it hard to accept early accomplishments in life.

If a beautiful young lady drives a good car, society believes she must be promiscuous and sleeping with a man somewhere. When a young man lives comfortably, we assume that he must be involved in some shady deals. We have a mental note that says, “Something is wrong with being successful at a young age”.

The wrong mindset will limit any man. The fountains of life flow out of the mind. Once the mind is infected, the entire operations of life are affected.

One of the accounts in Psalms of the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land has an interesting revelation in it:

Yes, again and again, they tempted God And limited the Holy One of Israel.
Psalms 78:41 NKJV

Did you see that they limited the Holy One of Israel there? How? It was their mindset. The journey to the Promised Land that would have been some few days turned to a journey of forty years.

It was easy to take the Israelites out of Egypt but it was way tougher taking Egypt out of them. They still wanted the onions, garlic and cucumber of Egypt. At a point, they even said that there were graves in Egypt and they do not mind dying there.

Jeremiah prophecied that our God is the God of all flesh and the next statement again seems interesting: “Is there anything too hard for Him to do?” Why would anything be hard for God to do? One thing that can limit the operations of God in our lives is our mindset.

The problem is not with what God has prepared for you. The problem is about getting us ready for what He has gotten ready for us. Our will can be so strong that it makes divine work so slow. Let your will cooperate with God.

Time will be wasted and opportunities will be lost by men who have developed a wrong mindset.

The devil builds strongholds in the heart of men. Make sure he does not have a portion in your pricey real estate called the heart. Deny him space.

If they say nothing good can come out of Nazareth, it is because they know the mindset of those from there. Jesus broke the pattern. You also can. Deal with that self-defeating mindset. Do not sabotage your destiny with the wrong mindset.
