“WALK THROUGH” NOT “RUN”

I hated it whenever Dad calls me at night to pick up his Panasonic Radio in his room. The dark corridor between the living room and his room was always a place of dread for me.

It became worse when a brother closed to our family died. I would imagine that ghosts would just emerge from the walls and appear to me.

That image would make me run through the corridor. Whenever I return, Dad would say, “What is making you run?” I never got to answer that question.

One thing that you must not bow to this season is fear. Fear will bring torment. Fear will make you run when nothing is chasing you.

In the Psalm of David, David did not say “Even though I run through the valley of the shadow of death…”. David said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…”

There is a difference! The man who walks through a place of dread knows something. A man who runs through it lacks something- awareness of divine presence.

David said, “For thou are with me…” Your disposition in places and moments of dread shows whether you have or lack awareness of divine presence.

Surely David was a man who had a solid awareness of divine presence. He was a man after God’s heart even in the heat of pressure. When a siege arises, David does not jump out in fear. He would rather go into the stronghold by faith to discern the heart of God.

This season, do nothing out of fear. Do not run through the valley of the shadow of death. You may miss your step and lose a lot. Choose to walk. Walk with God. Be conscious of where He leads you. Put your feet where He has placed His feet. See His shadow cover you. Lose sight of the shadow of death as you focus on the Lord who is with you.

No matter what, He has said and He is still saying to you, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. No matter how dark it seems, God is right there to lighten you and your path.
