YOU WILL NOT GROW IF YOU GIVE UP WHEN IT IS TOUGH
As a young boy and a pastor’s child, I had access to musical instruments and I desired to learn to play them. Then, instruments were still kept at home. It was so easy to walk to any and play.
Eventually, my parents got us a drums instructor. It was such a delight. We started with the simple beats. I learnt to play different ones and even stepped up to do it in the church at times.
When it started getting difficult, I would try but eventually, I gave up. My childhood friend who did not stop learning became an amazing drummer.
It was the same with the keyboard. I started learning to play and I gave up midway. It was the same with the guitar. I gave up once my fingers began to ache.
You cannot master anything that you give up on. Anyone who will be a master of a thing must not have and will not give up on the basics.
Take an appraisal of your life- do you give up when it is getting tough? If you have a pattern of giving up when it is tough, you will never grow.
If you desire to grow in managerial abilities but you give up when the conversation gets tougher during business talks, you will not grow. The kitchen would always have some heat. If you desire to cook great things, you must be ready to bear the heat also.
You are either willing to endure the pain of the change process or you will have to bear the pain of the regret that you did not change. Growth requires endurance. Growth requires patience. Be willing to go through the process.
It is easier to set goals. It is tougher to stick to goals. You need brutal focus, guts, and grit to get things done.
Look at the children of Ephraim. They started with so much energy but gave up midway:
Take, for example, the sons of Ephraim. Though they were all equipped warriors, each with weapons, when the battle began they retreated and ran away in fear.
Psalms 78:9 TPT
What was the consequence? They limited what God could do with their lives.
Again and again, they limited God, preventing him from blessing them. Continually they turned back from him and provoked the Holy One of Israel!
Psalms 78:41 TPT
God cannot use a man beyond the level of his growth. Is your growth limiting what God can do with you? Go through the process. Pay the price. Do not give up. How many times will you try? How many things will you start and abandon? Deal with that spirit now.
