AGREEMENT IN MARRIAGE IS NOT WARFARE

AGREEMENT IN MARRIAGE IS NOT WARFARE

At a point in our marital journey, we had to make a decision that will bring a major shift to my wife's business. It was to be a huge sacrifice. She would have to shut down some things to pick on new roles.

I had prayed and known this is what to do. But then when I told her about it, I simply asked her to pray also. What made the decision easier for her? God reminded her of a unique experience she had just when we started courting:

She had an open vision of an elderly man come into her room who said to her, "I have called you to help my son in what I have called him to do". That became the basis upon which the shift was made.

It was easy to align because we prayed and we did not forget our instructions from the beginning of our journey.

Decision making and agreement in marriage does not have to be warfare. The challenge is many make decisions in marriage driven by other parameters except by the Spirit of the Lord.

Friends, when tough times hit or when you get to critical junctions in life, make decisions based on your what the Lord has said or what He is saying.

Never ever allow your flesh to gain so much momentum that you now struggle to yield to the Holy Spirit. Fleshly stubbornness cannot be a godly home.

When the flesh stops you from apologizing or forgiving quickly, hardness of heart will make marriage harder for you.

When selfishness makes you grandstand when you are meant to compromise, the promise of a great union becomes a mirage.

A lot of people have become a slave to their emotions rather than a bondservant to the Lord and the Spirit. If you are led by your emotions, you will build an unstable marriage.

Yielding to the Holy Spirit can be tough in the beginning but it is better you master the journey. You will reap the harvest.

Believe me when I say to you that everything you give up for the sake of yielding to the Holy Spirit in your life and marriage can never be a loss.

Do not let your fears ruin your marriage when faith can build. Have faith that the marriage will work. Partner with the Holy Spirit to make great decisions. Work with your spouse. Ensure that your opinion is not higher than the instructions of the Lord.

Do you remember the house built on the rock and the one built on the sand?

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."' Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV

Are you doing the word in your marriage or are you doing “you”? If you do you, you will end up “doing yourself”. If you do you, you will end up destroying your home. Do the Word. Yield to the Lord!

God bless you!
