DEAR HUSBAND, CHOOSE YOUR WIFE ONLY
Just a few days before my wedding, a dear teacher sat me down and gave me a full session about sexual intimacy. He taught me many things scripturally and biologically. There was something he said that I will never forget. I have shared the same lesson with everyone I have mentored towards marriage. It is a life-saving statement. He said to me over a decade ago, “Pastor Temi, when you see your wife intimately for the first time, the first rule of intimacy is ‘Love what you see”.
One of the things that men battle is the challenge of “sharp seeing eyes” and “photographic brains”. Dear Man, do not make the mistake of Samson- his eyes led him into trouble.
He saw at Timnah:
“Now Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.”
Judges 14:1 NKJV
He saw a harlot at Gaza:
“Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her.”
Judges 16:1 NKJV
Then, he loved a woman in the valley called Delilah, and he went down too:
“Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.”
Judges 16:4 NKJV
When the Philistines caught him, what did they remove? His Eyes! Then, they bound him:
“Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison.”
Judges 16:21 NKJV
David saw Bathsheba from the roof of his palace. He stopped low into adultery. He opened an access to wreck his family
This is the truth that David told Solomon, and I would like to tell us (including myself)- You will see other breasts, choose her own:
“Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman? For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.”
Proverbs 5:15-23 NLT
Make a covenant with your eyes like Job:
““I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman.”
Job 31:1 NLT
When you are called to accountability, do not argue. Work on it. Stop calling it what will wreck you a weakness. You need meekness to end well.
Watch your eyes. Choose your spouse.
