GIVE YOUR PASTOR THE PERMISSION TO “PASTOR” YOU

GIVE YOUR PASTOR THE PERMISSION TO “PASTOR” YOU

I was in a conference for Ministers of the Gospel. One of the panellists was asked a question of how he had been able to sustain a life of discipline in Ministry. His answer has not left me. He said, "I have a Pastor".

You will not understand the weight of what was said until you think about the fact that the person answering himself is a Pastor. A dear father would always say to us, "Every pastor needs a pastor".

A pastor said he corrected a young man in church once and his response was, “Did I tell you that you are my pastor?” He did not accept the correction.

If you think you know it all, you would not see the need to be instructed and corrected. When was the last time you were corrected? There are people who left church because they were confronted and corrected.

“A wise son or daughter desires a father’s discipline, but the know-it-all never listens to correction.” Proverbs 13:1 TPT

There was a time my dear mentor called and admonished me on a matter. I took it with great joy. It was a life-saving counsel. If Nadab and Abihu had that correction before they offered the fire, their lives would have been spared.

You can fulfill destiny with a wrong tailor or even the wrong barber but you cannot fulfill destiny with the wrong Pastor. The one who speaks into your life will determine the course of your destiny.

You will not go far in a place where your emotions are massaged and your weakness is worshipped. Do not just stay where you are liked; stay where you will be trained.

Have the mindset of “Discipline does not kill” and “Correction is a blessing”.

Pastors must learn to confront. We owe the people that responsibility.

“Don’t withhold appropriate discipline from your child. Go ahead and punish him when he needs it. Don’t worry—it won’t kill him!” Proverbs 23:13 TPT

You see someone wearing that skimpy skirt, confront her fast! When you see the brother hanging around another girl asides his wife, ask questions fast. Pastors are not called to please men. We are called to raise men. Apostle Paul puts it well:

“I’m obviously not trying to flatter you or water down my message to be popular with men, but my supreme passion is to please God. For if all I attempt to do is please people, I would fail to be a true servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 TPT

Paul wrote to Timothy as a young Pastor that the church is the ground and pillar of truth. He mentioned that there is a way of conduct in the church of the living God.

He told Timothy to ensure that he does his job as a Pastor without fear or favour. Why should your pastor be afraid of telling you the truth?

Give your pastor permission to pastor you.

“Obey your spiritual leaders and recognize their authority, for they keep watch over your soul without resting since they will have to give an account to God for their work. So it will benefit you when you make their work a pleasure and not a heavy burden.” Hebrews 13:17 TPT
