HOW TO BE A BLESSING TO YOUR PASTOR (3)

We were ministering in the South-South of our nation. I travelled with my entire family for the meeting. It was a great time out for the young ones. During the day, while we prepared for the meeting, the church had a team that picked up the girls and took them out for sightseeing, colouring and other fun yet edifying activities. They had a great time while we could both rest and prepare to be a blessing.

One of the ways to be a blessing to your pastors is to ensure they do not have to worry about their children. You can step in and ensure that their children are well taken care of so they can focus and minister in the strength and power of the Holy Spirit.

Do you know God can speak to you specifically to help in that area? A brilliant young graduate walked up to a minister of the gospel with a young baby and said, ‘The Lord told me to come and serve you in helping you with your son”. They had been praying to God to send help. The graduate’s parents said they knew years back that at a season of life, he would serve and help a minister of the gospel. What a great help!

Do you know how hard and, at times, traumatizing the ‘house help’ syndrome or pattern can be? I know a family who had multiple house help in the space of three months. They all kept misbehaving. But again, God answered their prayers.

Do you know that service is the easiest key to enjoying access? You would get the chance to see your pastors beyond the pulpit. You will learn by observing their lives. Examples are far more powerful than words.

Let me repeat: There is something called the ministry of helps. If God has called you to help your pastors by serving in that area, do it joyfully. Do it boldly. Do it with class. Some people will look down on you and call you names. Smile and move on. There is no small or irrelevant activity in Zion.

I Corinthians 12:28 NKJV
[28] And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Not everyone is called to “help,” but if you are, wear it as a badge of honour. Do it with joy.
