IF YOU SENSE THE CALL TO MINISTRY (2)

My grandfather’s voice in the faith keeps ringing out loud till today. It was a meeting of Ministers. He said, “The only thing I need to teach you is how to pray. You will figure out the rest by yourself”. He will always add, “When man works, man works, but when man prays, God works.” He crowns it by saying, “When we pray, sweet coincidences happen.”

My father, in the faith, would say, “If you wait for prayer to come to you, you will not pray. You will go to prayer.” Some have shared about the weekly seven-hour stretch they had regularly. They would pray and were not allowed to sit or crouch. It was military training.

If you have a call to ministry, learn the art of prayer early. Forget the suits, shoes, and ties; if you will soar, you must pray. Prayer is one of the basics of ministry. If you cannot pray, you will be a lame minister.

Personally, after thirteen years of actively pursuing God’s call, I can tell you that the years we prayed the most were the years we had the greatest breakthroughs. Prayer is like stepping on the accelerator of the divine.

Do you know the disciples saw Jesus pray?

He prayed, arising long before dawn

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; there He prayed.”

Mark 1:35 NKJV

He prayed all night also:

“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”

Luke 6:12 NKJV

He prayed while he was being baptized:

“When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.”

Luke 3:21 NKJV

His disciples saw the link between the ministry exploits and his prayer life. They requested a training on prayer:

“Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.””

Luke 11:1 NKJV

If Jesus could not do ministry without prayer, my dear one, you will learn the art of prayer. You must pray. Do not think prayer stopped because you travelled out. The kingdom of God is not about grammar but about power.

Do you know a man called E.M. Bounds? Go and read up his books.

Will you pray? May you catch the Spirit of Grace and Supplication early.
