LEARNING BRINGS YOU REST

LEARNING BRINGS YOU REST

After two years in ministry, I noticed a pattern. Because of the setting where I pastored as a young man, I had a different congregation almost every year- virtually everyone is looking forward to greener pastures in cities.

Friends, it troubled my heart. Folks come in raw and just right after they begin to catch spiritual sparks and you begin to enjoy their hearts and hands as a Pastor, a new season beckons on them. You bid them farewell (at times with tears) while you return to another set of raw materials. It was hard.

But in September 2014, my spiritual father brought out a piece of paper and began to explain to me the power of the location where I am. That changed my attitude, mindset and increased the impact of the ministry.

In any endeavour in life, career, marriage or ministry, you must never forget that it is learning that brings rest. If you are not willing to learn, you are not ready for rest.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Matthew 11:28‭-‬29 KJV

Everything looks hard and difficult until you master it. Have you ever tried getting something done without results before? Then someone comes and shows you how it is done and you begin to wonder why you have wasted so much time with something so easy? The problem is the knowledge gap.

There was a day we brought out screwdrivers and various tools so that a baby cot can fit into the boot of the car. It was hard. Then it struck us to check videos online. All we needed to pull was a hook and the whole cot became like a folder. We laughed at our folly.

What is the point? If you are not willing to learn, you will hustle and struggle in life. There will be huge labour and no result. You will have no rest in anything you do.

Learning brings rest.
