LESSONS FROM MY CAMCORDER (7): WHEN OBEDIENCE BECAME HARD
My school fellowship meets using about four different classrooms. There is a main hall, and there are three overflow areas with screens for viewing. At one point, they announced that the fellowship needed new cameras. Truly, right there in service, I had a prompt to give my own. For days and weeks after, I knew I was meant to give it.
It was hard. It was tough. I gave excuses. I did not obey the Lord. I was also in service weeks later when they announced that the fellowship already had the new camera. I knew deeply that I had missed an opportunity.
Beloved, what has God blessed you with that you cannot give back to Him if He needs it? I now understand why a dear father in the faith prays, “Lord, whatever I cannot give you when you ask, please do not give me too”. There is nothing that we have that we did not receive
Second, with or without my obedience, the need of the fellowship was still met. God’s work cannot be hindered by any man’s disobedience. The work of the Lord will go on. It is only a privilege to be a part of it.
Maybe you are also struggling with obedience to a particular instruction. Please obey. There is nothing as sweet as a life of obedience. If indeed you know that you have heard the Lord on that matter, please go ahead and obey Him. Trust me, you want to be a part of what the Lord is doing.
God showed us the example of giving the only one we have:
““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 NLT
Do not let disobedience turn anything in your hands into an idol. What will you let go of today?
