MERCY LOOKS BEYOND THE MESS
As I parked in front of the church office, the grandson of our neighbour ran towards me. I was wearing a nice white shirt with a tie. As I picked him and carried him up, the grandmother said, “Please do not carry him, he is too dirty”. I responded, “Ma, I was dirtier than this when Jesus carried me also”.
Mercy looks beyond our mess. Do you remember that leper who cried out to Jesus? He told Jesus, “If you are willing, make me whole”. Leprosy is a contagious disease. You keep a distance from a leper.
Jesus could have sent a word from afar and healed him. Jesus did the unthinkable- He touched him first! He then said, “I am willing, be made whole.”
“Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately, the leprosy left him.”
Luke 5:13 NKJV
Sometimes, beyond the words, there are people who need that touch of love from us. We look beyond the mess, and we touch them with the love of Christ.
If we will see transformed lives, we must become vessels that are willing to touch messy lives with the love of Christ. If we loved as Christ did, we would be an extension of that touch of Christ to someone in need.
Whose life can your touch of love change this season? Would you extend mercy and look beyond the mess today?
