OVERCOMING PORN ADDICTION 9
I got into the car that morning so I could take my children to school. Interestingly, the engine roared to life. However, nothing else would come up- the gear was stuck and none of the lights were coming on. We had to find an alternative.
When the professional came, he said, “It must have been giving signals that you ignored”. I did not see any signal. I just knew that it was not working that morning.
When you realise that temptation lingers and your sensitivity to signals is failing as a believer, the first test you should carry out is a strength test and not a demonic test.
When a car is down for too long, it needs strength to pick up again. There are times we need someone else’s battery to kickstart the process but once the battery is back in, it gets charged and picks up by itself.
This season, work on training your heart. The heart can be trained to run away from strange thoughts.
“So, train your heart to listen when I speak and open your spirit wide to expand your discernment—
Proverbs 2:2 TPT
Train your heart to listen. You can train your spirit for strength.
If you do not train your heart for strength, strange things will continue to blossom. Apostle Peter said the heart can be trained for covetousness. Do not train your heart negatively.
“They have eyes full of harlotry, insatiable for sin. They beguile and bait and lure away unstable souls. Their hearts are trained in covetousness (lust, greed), [they are] children of a curse [exposed to cursing]!”
2 Peter 2:14 KJV
Train your heart to love and submit to godliness:
“For physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come.”
1 Timothy 4:8 AMPC
How do you train for strength, so you don’t faint in the day of adversity?
– Have a Regimented Study Life. Have a long stretch of study time.
– Have a Regimented Monthly Retreat. Shut down distractions and focus on the Lord.
– Have Regimented Thoughts. Meditate only on things that are pure, true, noble, praiseworthy and of good report.
– Have regimented prayer life. Do you have a day of the week that you stretched?
Soldiers live a regimented life. Careless living will lead to leakage of strength. Where strength fails, strange habits will overcome you.
