THINGS THAT WASTE (III)- LAZINESS

THINGS THAT WASTE (III)- LAZINESS

There was a season in my life when I was battling laziness. I would wait for things to pile up before it gets done. I relied on my gifts without spending time to refine them and get better.

As a teenager, my mum once called me a lazy pig. It was painful. Laziness was eating up the fabric of my potential. Laziness is a waster.

Friends, let me say it the way it is- Laziness is wickedness.

Do you remember the parable of the talents (Matt. 25:14-30)? The Master gave his servants talents. He gave them 5 talents, 2 talents and 1 talent each according to their various abilities.

The one with five traded with it and came back with another five. The one with two did the same and came back with another two. However, the one with just one dug the ground and hid his own.

What did the master say to the last servant?

“But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’
Matthew 25:26‭-‬27 NLT

Laziness is not the lack of hard work at times, it is the inability to conclude what you have started.

There is the illustration of the man who goes hunting and returns with meat but did not roast it. It takes hard work to go after bush meat. It takes some effort to bring it home. But then leaving it there without skinning, roasting and preserving it is where the challenge is.

The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, But diligence is man’s precious possession.
Proverbs 12:27 NKJV

Another version calls the Lazy man the “passive man”. He lacks motivation for living. He does things at the pace of his feelings.

A passive person won’t even complete a project, but a passionate person makes good use of his time, wealth, and energy.
Proverbs 12:27 TPT

If your day is only led by feelings and emotions, you will not attain much in life. You must learn to go the extra mile when it does not feel like it.

A lazy man would waste time. He is a daydreamer and would waste wealth. He oversleeps and still wakes up without energy.

Lazy people have resources that they fail to recognise or worse still, refine. What is therefore meant to bring profit leads to a loss.

In the name of Jesus, the stronghold of laziness is destroyed in your life. May you never give excuses for an unproductive life.
