APPRECIATE UNIQUENESS

APPRECIATE UNIQUENESS

A group of students in medical school were in one of their practical sessions. The consultant noticed one of his students holding the surgical instruments with such precision and expertise. Out of curiosity, he asked him, “Who taught you to hold the instruments?” All his mates chorused, “Congenital Surgeon.”

He had watched his father perform surgeries for so many years that it was already a part of him. I used to tease him that he only needed the degree as a certification for practice.

This is the flip side- I had the same privilege of going through the same process as my friend, but I switched lanes in between. I moved from the sciences to the arts. I just knew that sciences were not my lane. My parents were shocked. They initially insisted that I was brilliant and that I would do well since I was even leading my class in some of the science subjects, but I knew it was not for me.

One of the things you must learn to appreciate is the uniqueness of people. We are not all wired the same way: Some are very effective late at night, some at midnight and some very early in the morning. I do my best work between 12 midnight and 5 am. If you see me catching a nap in the morning, you may think I am lazy.

It is not every one that will succeed in starting out a business. Do you remember how your mum claims she is in business but is always giving a tin of rice to that needy family or giving biscuits to her grandchildren when they visit or dipping her hands straight into that paint plastic where she keeps money so you can get some pepper for dinner? Did that business ever grow?

Most people who are effective as business people may even be called wicked by others. Why? They stick to the rules and practices of their trade. They are not trying to mix pleasure and emotions with it.

I have heard stories of employees who resigned to start up a business whose businesses have not taken off to date. They see the glamour of business but do not know the workings behind the scenes.

Have you mastered how business opportunities come? Do you know how your company sustains salary payments even when there is no profit for three months? If all you see is the car the owner is driving, you may just get into daydreaming, thinking you are audacious. Be careful.

I know motivational speakers have told you to start a business, but you need to ask yourself- Am I a man of travels or a man of the tent?

Deuteronomy 33:18 NLT
Moses said this about the tribes of Zebulun and Issachar: “May the people of Zebulun prosper in their travels. May the people of Issachar prosper at home in their tents.

Zebulun- Travels.
Issachar- Tents

Both will prosper!

There are prosperous people who have not started any business. Do not let pressure push you. Stay calm.

Are you entrepreneurial or not?
Are you the charity-minded type?
Are you a faithful supporter of others?
Can you stay on one vision for a long time?
Can you recover money, or do you turn it into a gift in your mind?

Know your uniqueness and appreciate it!
