“DADDY, I DON’T LIKE THIS ONE”

Danielle has a series of videos that covers Rhymes, Numeracy, Bible Stories, Good Behaviour and all. She has the ones she loves and she has the one she does not like.

Anytime I put the video on any of the aspects that she does not like, she would protest and I have to say her repeatedly: “Danielle, you don’t have to like it but you have to learn it”. It takes a while but she calms down and gets to learn.

We are also like that in our journey with God. We want to be picky when it comes to destiny choices and God would have to say to you, “You don’t have to like it but you have to learn it”.

God will patiently wait for you while you are chasing what you like:

But God ’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right—everything. Those who wait around for him are the lucky ones.
Isaiah 30:18 MSG

God will take the pain to do everything right: God wants you to be planted in the right church. God wants you to be connected to the right shepherd. Why? There are decisions that are tied to destiny- you cannot afford to be casual with it.

If David would ever choose under whom to be trained for the palace, Saul would have been far from his list. In God, you learn from what is done and what is omitted. David learnt how not to be like Saul.

If Moses, the Egyptian Trained Soldier and Politician had an opportunity to choose a man to serve, Jethro would not be on his list. Ah! How would a man trained in the best civilization of the day end up with one priest in the wilderness? He even now has to take care of sheep. How ridiculous.

Have you ever thought about the fact that Jesus personality was not same as that of John the Baptist? But he had to go through the hands of John the Baptist.

Beloved, destiny is not about cherry-picking. Destiny is Christ-centred. You don’t enforce your choices. You simply pick up your cross daily. Your part on the path is obedience. That is what makes you a disciple.

It is about losing your life rather than keeping it. You will end up in places you did not plan but as long as it is God’s plan, it will turn out right.

Who taught you to cherry pick? Who taught you to despise Saul? Who taught you to run from the sheep of Jethro? They are cheating you out of destiny.

In serving Saul, you will learn kingship. You will learn honour. You will build fellowship. You cannot afford not to hear God. You will build courage. You will build new alliances. If you overlook Jethro, you just overlooked your burning bush and everything tied to it.

You don’t have to like it. Just learn it! This is destiny and not a game.
