DARLING, I DID NOT COLLECT THE MONEY

DARLING, I DID NOT COLLECT THE MONEY

As we drove home, Irewamiri said to me, “Darling, I did not collect the money from them. I blessed them and returned it to them”. She was referring to an honourarium she had been given.

I was prompted to ask for her reason. Her response taught me a huge lesson. She said, “Darling, I had no money on me. I wanted to be sure I was not collecting it because I needed money. I wanted to be certain that God would have me collect it. I would not be led by my need. I would rather be led by the Lord”.

It was a heavy lesson for me. I could see a heart that really loved the Lord. It was a priceless moment for me.

Beloved, if you ever get to a point where you are led by your needs, it is a dangerous place to be as a child of God. The devil always uses our needs as a point of temptation.

Did you notice that he did not tempt Jesus until Jesus was hungry?

“And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
Matthew 4:2‭-‬3 NKJV

Everything you are hungry for is a point of temptation. If you are hungry physically, food will be the tool. When you have a hunger for sex, that will be the tool. If you love power and glory, the devil will offer you alternatives.

Men have been trapped by their needs:

Samson slept on Delilah’s lap- a picture of a strong man who wanted a place of affirmation. He found it on Delilah’s laps. It was poison for his soul.

The Israelites cried for meat. God gave them meat but it did not bring any lasting satisfaction. Their need was their god. They forgot that the Almighty is God. They were slaves of their appetite.

Maybe Judas was scared of losing it all. He began to steal from the purse to protect his future. He died selling his conscience to the devil.

If you are led only by your needs, your pocket may be full but your soul would be deprived of what only God can give- prosperity.

One way to know that prosperity is from God is that your soul also prospers. If your soul does not prosper, you have entered a trap.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
III John 1:2 NKJV

What is leading you? Your needs or His glory!
