HOLIDAYS WERE NOT HOLIDAYS
During childhood, our holidays had a standard routine. On most days, we would resume reading at the guest room in our neighbour’s hospital by 8 am and we would not leave until 12 noon.
There were sums in New General Mathematics Textbooks that must be solved before the holiday was over. We could only play after we had observed our reading routine. Holidays were not really holidays.
Friends, if you will become all that God has in mind for you to be, you must ensure that you are deliberate with “holidays”. Holidays are meant to be days that you are free from work.
However, I have a simple piece of advice- have a plan for your free time. Load them with spiritually rejuvenating exercises. Do not allow them to be neutral days without a plan. A day you do not plan for can be hijacked by the devil for his own plots and schemes.
Paul spoke to the Ephesians that they must learn to redeem the times for the days are evil. The day you are not intentional about can be hijacked.
Hear God speaking to Job- “Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, And caused the dawn to know its place, That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?” Job 38:12-13 NASB
“And have you ever ordered Morning, ‘Get up!’ told Dawn, ‘Get to work!’ So you could seize Earth like a blanket and shake out the wicked like cockroaches?
Job 38:12-14 MSG
How do you achieve this? Paul taught that it is by finding the will of God and aligning with it.
“Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants.” Ephesians 5:16-17 MSG
Your greatness is hidden in what you do with your “free” time. Redeem it with wise plans aligned to God’s will.
