THERE ARE TIMES YOU WON’T HAVE ANSWERS

My Pastor during my national youth service days used to be a lecturer of Anatomy at the university. He mentioned that there was a day he was teaching a class and one of the students asked a question that he could not answer at the moment.

He told the class, “I am sorry. I do not have the answer to that question but is there anyone who can help with the answer?” His students were shocked. He told us that day that we would not have the answer to everything.

One of the pressures that the gifted must be free from is the pressure to have answers based on their gifting. The called must also not be under pressure to give answers to every thing that regards their calling.

When people begin to force themselves rather than admit the limitations that they have, it gives room to fall into the trap of manipulation.

There is an interesting account about Elisha the Prophet. After the miracle son of the Shunamite woman died, she began to ride towards Elisha. When Elisha saw her, he made a powerful statement that should liberate every called and gifted person.

As she approached the man of God at Mount Carmel, Elisha saw her in the distance. He said to Gehazi, “Look, the woman from Shunem is coming. Run out to meet her and ask her, ‘Is everything all right with you, your husband, and your child?’” “Yes,” the woman told Gehazi, “everything is fine.” But when she came to the man of God at the mountain, she fell to the ground before him and caught hold of his feet. Gehazi began to push her away, but the man of God said, “Leave her alone. She is deeply troubled, *but the Lord has not told me what it is*.”

2 Kings 4:25‭-‬27 NLT

Elisha the Prophet who inherited the double portion of Elijah’s spirit said that “But the Lord has not told me”.

Was Elisha a prophet? Yes!

Did he prophecy everyday? No!

What did he do when he was not prophesying? He was ensuring he was not under the pressure to say when God has not said.

There are Prophets who are not like Elijah. Jeremiah spoke about them.

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

Jeremiah 23:21 KJV

When the gifted is pressured, he will fall into errors. When the anointed begins to act without clarity, he will end up in trouble. If God has not spoken, do not say he has.

When Saul moved because he was pressured, Samuel told him:

“You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

I Samuel 13:13‭-‬14 NKJV

Do not act foolishly.

You will still lose respect of God and Man.

You will still lose your place.
