THINGS THAT CAN SLOW YOU DOWN (1)

I was travelling from Ibadan some months ago when the car suddenly lost momentum, the engine went off. I drove slowly off the road and parked. I was still in Ibadan.

I had a meeting to catch up with- We got another cab. We left the car there after arranging a mechanic to fix it. I could not stay there. It would slow me down.

Beloved, some things slow a man down in the race of life. If you see a man operating less than he should in God’s plan and programme for His life, there must be something slowing him down.

One of the things that can slow down a man is sin. The scar of sin can never be compared to the beauty of God’s holiness in the life of a man.

The life of David before he slept with Bathsheba and killed Uriah was significantly different from the moments after the act. The operation of sin in the life of any man is to limit the man.

You cannot romance sin and not expect to conceive death. The wages of sin is death. Something dies in you every time you sin. Men who have failed and have encountered grace will tell you that mercy has restored them but there are grounds that they have lost.

You have to deal with sin very fast. Think of it: Balak hired Balaam to invoke a curse and a spell on the nation of Israel but he could not. Why? There was no iniquity in Jacob (Numbers 23:21).

However, by the time Israel began to commit adultery and walk in idolatry, they pressed the button for self-destruct. There was no need for external attacks, they imploded (Numbers 25). Twenty four thousand men died in a day.

Beloved, sin is not your friend. Sin will kiss you and then wreck you. The Lord needs a handle in your life to bless you. The devil needs a handle in your life to wreck you. What you do determines who gets the grip.

Take a look at this scripture: We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall.
Hebrews 12:1 ERV

What sin should you remove that is slowing you down?
