EMOTIONAL TRAPS

I knew I was already falling in love with my friend. We get closer by the day. We talk daily. I knew her movements and she knew mine. We were already dropping hidden clues of emotional attachment.

Phone calls were becoming longer. Our schedules were beginning to “clash” in such a way that we could get to see one another. There was just a slight issue- I knew deep within me that this was never going to work.

That was when I turned to God to ask for help. I did brutal things- I dropped the level of communication very fast. No more texts messages in the morning, check-ups in the afternoon and goodnight in the evening. I intentionally did not call on special days. It all died there.

Friends, do not give room to anything that you know will not last. There is no need to experiment with things that are clearly not the will of God. There is a wise saying that there is no need smelling whatever you will not eat.

If you have to ask if you are crossing the line then you are likely already crossing the line. If you are already talking to someone more than your spouse, you need to be brutal and shut down communication. Assumptions will kill your home. If you no longer share good news first and fast with your spouse, you need to deal with it also.

Mortifying carnal desires must be intentional. I know you like hearing her voice. You may like how he cares about you but you know this is clearly not the will of God- it is better that you run.

You must make decisions according to the size of your destiny. You cannot make destiny decisions casually. There is a way that seems right to your flesh but deep within you, you are picking signals that this will not end well but you stubbornly keep to that path. If they mark a bottle “poison”, will you drink it to be sure?

If you are buying consumables in a supermart and you see that the tin of milk will expire next week, you will likely not buy it. What of toxic relationships and habits that injure your spiritual health? Whatever impacts your spirit is far more deadly than whatever impacts you physically.

Do not toy with sin also. It is not worth it. Take a look at James: Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. (James 1:14‭-‬15 NLT)

Do not allow sin to grow. If you see a baby snake in your room, you will not leave it and say, “It is just an innocent baby snake”. You kill it on the spot. Why? It is still a snake. It can kill.

Friends. Sin is sin. It can kill. Watch what you desire. The devil will tempt you with your desire. Once you notice that your desire is strange, kill it fast.

There is love in sharing
